Today as we celebrate the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tony Worner, Leader of Formation for St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, reads from the Gospel of (Luke 1:39-56) in which Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth to spend time together.

Two pregnant women – a young girl newly pregnant and an older woman in the later stages of pregnancy – take centre stage in this story and, Tony says, we’re privileged to listen in on their conversation. They chat about the mysterious workings of God, to which their own lives bear witness.

For our prayer today, Tony invites us to take time to enter into their conversation. Imagine what they are talking about as they both await the birth of their child.

Express a prayer of gratitude, your Magnificat, maybe by praying the words that Mary said:

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirt exalts in God my Saviour, because he has looked with favour on me his lowly servant.
