Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Luke (19: 41-44) in which Jesus, as he approached Jerusalem, weeps for the city. Afterwards, Fr Paul shares a little about the life of St Elizabeth of Hungary whose memorial we celebrate today. Fr Paul says Elizabeth was a daughter of the King of Hungary. She was given in marriage to Ludwig, the Landgrave of Thuringia, by whom she had three children. She frequently meditated on heavenly things and when her husband died, she embraced poverty and built a hospice in which she cared for the sick herself. Today Fr Paul invites us to pray ‘St Elizabeth of Hungary…….Pray for us!’.
