Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of John (6: 35-40) in which Jesus tells his disciples, ‘I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst’.In today’s Gospel, Fr Paul says we hear an explanation of what the bread of heaven or the bread of life is. Jesus proclaims himself as the bread of life. This Gospel makes it clear it is not about eating the bread of life just like they ate the bread, the manna from heaven with Moses and the Israelites in the desert; no, this is more about the simple question about believing.Fr Paul says today we are challenged with that question, which has been around forever – Do I believe?
