John’s Gospel can be divided into two books – the book of Signs and the book of Glory.

Today’s reading (John 12: 44-50), Fr Paul tells us comes from the end of the books of Signs and is a summary of Jesus’ teachings.

Fr Paul highlights three themes that run through John’s Gospel:

  • Darkness and Light
  • Judgement and Salvation
  • Rejection and Belief

He says the mission of Jesus is to save the world and the condition of that salvation is to believe in him.

In closing, Fr Paul challenges us with this question… ‘How can I help here and now with the mission of Jesus?
