Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Luke (8: 1-3) about the women who accompanied Jesus and the twelve as they travelled about the countryside proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom. After reading the Gospel, Fr Paul shares a little about St Cornelius and St Cyprian, whose memorials we celebrate today.

Fr Paul notes Cornelius was made bishop of the church in Rome (the Pope) in the year 251 and he established his authority with the help of St Cyprian.

The emperor, Gallus, sent Cornelius into exile, and he died a in 253. He is buried in Rome. Today, in the tradition of our Church, Fr Paul invites us to pray, ‘St Cornelius and St Cyprian, Pray for us!’
