Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Matthew (13: 18-23) in which the disciples listen as Jesus explains the Parable of the Sower.

Fr Paul says if you are like him, it’s not always easy to grow things. Sometimes what he plants does not grow. Sometimes what he plants dies, no matter how much he looks after it.

In the Gospel, Jesus uses the imagery of seeds to explore a deeper meaning – that is the many ways in which people can accept God’s word into their lives.

Once we hear and understand what God is saying to us then we can use that to do good. We can use that to produce much fruit.

So, as we hear the gospel today, Fr Paul says, we might ask ourselves – what type of seed am I? what sort of soil am I? How do I grow and share the word of God in my life?
