Fr Paul reads the Gospel from Luke (21: 29-33), in which Jesus tells the disciples ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away’.

Fr Paul says, as we come to the end of our Church’s year the parable of the fig tree is meant to keep us alert to the coming of the kingdom.  Luke maybe indicating the time of the Church and its apostolic mission is already the coming of the kingdom. Therefore, it is a time of renewal for us and for the world.

In closing, Fr Paul asks us to reflect on these questions: As the Church year ends, what needs renewing in my life? As the Church’s new year begins, just like a new year’s resolution, what needs to change in my life?
