Fr Paul Gooley reads from Luke’s Gospel (21: 29-33) in which Jesus tells his followers just as they know summer is near when the trees start sprouting their leaves after winter, they should pay attention to the signs of the Kingdom of God. Fr Paul notes that in today’s Gospel, through the little parable of the fig-tree and all the trees, the listener is again told to be alert for the coming of the kingdom, to be alert to the changes that can happen We too need to be alert and be able to and ready to read the signs of the times so that we are ready when the end comes. Reflecting on the theme of this week’s Gospels, Fr Paul, again, invites us to ask ourselves – ‘Am I truly ready if the end comes?’
