Jesus cures the two blind men

Fr Paul reads today from the Gospel of Matthew (9: 27-31) in which Jesus cures the two blind men.

Fr Paul says today’s Gospel is one of the ten healings that Jesus does in the Gospel of Matthew after the Sermon on the Mount. It again reminds us that the coming of the kingdom will bring an end to all suffering and sorrow.

In the Gospel we hear today all the stress is on the belief in Jesus. The faith of the two blind men is emphasised twice. To be cured, we need to have some kind of commitment in faith to Jesus and then this faith is enhanced and strengthened by the healing.

The Gospel today invites us to grow in our faith by putting our faith in Jesus just like these blind two men did.
