Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Luke (21: 1-4) in which Jesus observed the contribution made by a poor widow to the temple treasury saying, ‘she from the little she had, has put in all she had to live on’.  Afterwards, Fr Paul shares a little bit about the feast of The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which we celebrate today. Fr Paul says in unity with Eastern Church and commemorating the dedication in 543 of the new Basilica of Saint Mary, built next to the Temple at Jerusalem, this feast celebrates Mary’s “dedication” of herself to God from her infancy, and inspired by the Holy Spirit, whose grace had filled her ever since her immaculate conception. So, on this day, Fr Paul invites us to pray: As we venerate the glorious memory of the most holy Virgin Mary, grant, we pray, O Lord, through her intercession, that we, too, may merit to receive from the fullness of your grace. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
