Fr Paul Gooley reads from the Gospel of John (16: 29-33) in which the disciples tell Jesus they believe he came from God and Jesus says ‘I have told you these things, so that you might find peace in me. In the world you will have trouble but be brave: I have conquered the world’.

Fr Paul in today’s Gospel reading the disciples claim to believe. The Lord states that the experience of sin will come into their lives when they flee and abandon him. Only when they return will they find peace and forgiveness.

Fr Paul notes, the point of our Christian faith is not to become preoccupied with the presence of sin. It is critical that we take the next step to find peace and inner harmony.
