Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Matthew (1: 16,18-21, 24) where Joseph accepts Jesus as His Son.

Fr Paul says today we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph. Apart from what is prescribed in the scriptures we know very little about the life of St Joseph. We know he was a carpenter, we know he accepted the will of God, we know he supported Mary and brought up Jesus. From this human side of Jesus, we can understand that Joseph was a good and responsible father. Joseph is widely venerated as the patron of artisans and of workers in general. He is also a source of inspiration to anyone who is an adoptive parent, either formerly or informally.

In the tradition of our Church, Fr Paul invites us to ask ‘St Joseph, pray for us’!
