Parable of the two sons

Fr Paul reads today’s Gospel from Matthew (21: 28-32) in which Jesus tells the parable of the two sons.

Matthew loves doing parables contrasting the ‘goodies’ with the ‘baddies’ like the two sons in today’s Gospel.  For Matthew there is only bad and white; there are no grey areas.

Fr Paul says the point of today’s Gospel is that it is no use simply saying that ‘Christ is our Lord’; we have to express it in the way we behave.

As our Advent journey continues, Fr Paul asks us to reflect, ‘Has my behaviour, as we lead up to Christmas, showed that Christ is my Lord?’
