Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Matthew (11: 25-27) in which Jesus praises God saying ‘I bless you father, Lord of heaven and of earth for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children’.
Fr Paul says, this Gospel is a very beautiful one because it tells us of the intimacy between the Father and the Son. The Son does nothing except what he sees the Father doing. The Father loves the Son, so he entrusted all things to the Son. The Son gives life just as the Father gives life. This Gospel is not just about the love between the father and son, it is also about the love of God for the human race and its individual members. Fr Paul says, it is about God’s love for you and for me. We hear the Gospel stories of Jesus moving around and bringing light, healing, love, tolerance, humour as well as firmness, challenges, and judgement just to name a few. This gives us a glimpse of God in human and intelligible terms and it calls each of us to respond to that limitless love of God. Today for our reflection, Fr Paul says, let’s acknowledge and thank God for his limitless love.
