Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of John (3: 16-21) in which Jesus says to Nicodemus, ‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost shall not but may have eternal life’.
Fr Paul opens with this quote ‘God sent his Son into the world so that the world might be saved through him’. He says this is a beautiful statement about the limitless love of God. It is a beautiful statement of loving devotion between Father and Son. As Christians, Fr Paul says, we celebrate that all that is good in the world, ultimately, comes as a gift from the Father through his only begotten Son. With this in mind, Fr Paul invites us to take a moment during our prayer today to think of all that is good in our lives – all those things that we believe and know are good – and we take the opportunity to thank God for what he has given us.
