“Hi my name is Bridget, I’m a school based trainee at Emmaus, Catholic Care of the Aged.

What I like most about my job is working with the residents, getting to know them all. I like the fact I really make a difference.

School-based traineeship started through a block of work placement and just so everyone could try it all out and then we went through an interview process, and I was one of the lucky few to be selected.

So I wanted to work in the health care industry since around year 10, and just getting my traineeship and doing the everyday work has really helped me reinforced that I really want this as a career.

The people who would like working in this career is anyone who wants to make a difference really. People who like working with others and caring for others it’s just a really great career to be in.

So what’s next for me is that I’m heading to Coffs and NSW training awards, I was one of the lucky few to be selected as a finalist. Then after that, I’m going to finish my traineeship and travel overseas for a year and continue my studies in a Bachelor of Nursing.”
