Feast of St Peter Chanel

In John’s Gospel (6: 30-35) today the people are still with Jesus, looking for a sign that will help them believe that Jesus is ‘the One’.

Jesus proclaims in this Gospel for the first time that he is ‘the Bread of Life’.

Mindful of this declaration, Fr Paul shares with us a little about the life of St Peter Chanel (1803-1841) whose feast day is celebrated today.

St Peter Chanel was renowned for his gentleness, kindness and the encouragement he gave others.

In his reflection today, Fr Paul asks us to think about how to live out these charisms of St Peter Chanel in our own lives so that we can witness to Jesus Christ, who is the Bread of Life.
