Fr Paul reads the Gospel from Mark (4: 35-41) in which Jesus, in a boat with his frightened disciples, calms the storm.

When we read this Gospel, Fr Paul says, it seems Jesus has chosen a pretty dumb and unappreciative group of disciples. Even though they do call him ‘Master’, they still don’t really trust him despite the wonders he has done. They have no hesitation in being rude towards him.

For our reflection today, with our Gospel in mind, Fr Paul invites us to reflect on ‘How often do I behave as if Jesus is just having a snooze and seems unconcerned about my troubles as I struggle to keep my head above water? How often, once I call in Jesus and put my trust in him, does he effortlessly fix whatever the situation is?
