Gospel and Reflection – Wednesday, 6th week of Easter (20 May)
Jesus tells the disciples there is so much more he wants to share with them
After reading today’s Gospel (John 16: 12-15), Fr Paul sets the scene for our reflection by taking us on a journey to stars to consider the vastness of the universe in the context of God.
Just as Jesus tells the disciples in today’s reading, there is so much more he wants to share with them but it would be too much for them now, Fr Paul ponders the questions: How much don’t we know? How much is beyond our understanding?
Jesus knows he is about to leave and knows that we need another helper in our lives to be a constant guide, a teacher. He promises us the Spirit to give us a deeper understanding of who God is.
For our spiritual communion, Fr Paul invites us to reflect on these questions: How open to the Spirit am I in my life? How open am I to being helped, guided and taught by the Spirit?
