Reflecting on the Gospel from John 8: 51-59, Fr Paul shares an interesting insight about the age of Jesus. He also sets the emotional scene between the Jews and Jesus and the growing tension we have seen emerging over the last few Gospel readings.

He asks each of us, ‘How would you feel if someone called you a ‘liar’ to your face?’ because that’s exactly what Jesus did to the Jews. It is a powerful scene as Jesus states that he knows God and that he comes from God.

Fr Paul invites to do our own research on the phrase ‘Before Abraham ever was I am’ and what these words might mean in our own personal context – how would we respond to this remark if Jesus said it to us today?
